Most of the Old Testament prophecies are
about two separate events:

the First Coming of Jesus
in His earthly ministry; and
the Second Coming when He
will appear in glory.

The Jews confused these two events and
thought that when the Messiah came He
would fulfill all prophecies at one time.
Even to set up His visible kingdom. When He
didn't do it, they were disappointed and as a
nation rejected Him.
