John the Baptist, fulfilled the prophecy of
the coming of Elijah in a sense but only as
a type.

This is certain, for after John the Baptist
was dead, Jesus said that Elijah was yet
to come. "Elias truly shall first come, and
restore all things" Matthew 17:11
