The Vials and what is in them are literal, and are yet to be fulfilled.

       4 of the 7 Vials are repetitions of the Plagues of Egypt.  

               The First Vial Judgment will be a repetition of the Sixth Egyptian Plague and that it actually happens is not in doubt.
